St Paul's United Methodist Church is Offering free Advent Concert Series with wonderful local musicians including, Bret Hoag, (guitar), Townes Miller (flute), Glen Burdett, (organ) and Jason Branham (organ). Concerts are free (RSVP).
A frequent soloist, Brett Hoag specializes in premiering the works of many contemporary composers. He is a Special Lecturer of classical and jazz guitar at Oakland University and directs the Oakland University Guitar Ensemble. In addition, Mr. Hoag is a Lecturer at the University of Michigan. Mr. Hoag also collaborates with many acclaimed musicians and is often featured in chamber settings.
Townes Miller Hoag is an internationally touring artist with the Metropolitan Flute Orchestra and the Intenational Flute Orchestra. Dr. Miller is a Professor of Music and Outreach Coordinator at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan and is the Adjunct Flute Instructor and Director of Flute Choir at Saginaw Valley State University and a Proud Gemeinhardt Teaching Artist.
Dr. Glenn Burdett is Director of Music at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Ferndale and is an adjunct faculty member of Wayne State University. In addition to his work as a soloist, Mr. Burdett has performed the organ and the harpsichord an organist and harpsichordist with the May Festival Chorus, Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras and numerous ensembles throughout Metropolitan Detroit.
Dr. Jason Branham is the Director of Music at University Presbyterian Church in Rochester Hills and is the Chief Administrator for Greater Oakland Singers. Dr. Branham performs the breadth of Christian Music, directs ensembles and participates in musical theater throughout Oakland County.
